Thank you Sir John!
He was a man who changed the world for many people, including me. His name was John Templeton and I learned a lot about investing from him. If you have heard of the The Vanguard Mutual Funds, then you know about John's efforts to open up investing for the little people versus the big corporations or the millionaires.
He was, "arguably the greatest stock picker of the century," according to the press. "John Templeton, died Tuesday at his home in the Bahamas. He was 95. More than a half-century ago, he founded the global Templeton Growth Fund. But the devout Presbyterian invested as much in faith as he did in finance."
I remember seeing him on Wall Street Week, with Louis Rukhyser, another person who tried to educate people about money and investing. They are both gone now but many are much richer for having listened to them, and not just in a financial way either!
Peace,
Don
