Conversation and Cobbler

It seemed like a typical reunion with an old friend over some blackberry cobbler ala mode—until she mentioned that her medication had stopped working and she began to feel very depressed. One night after taking drinking a lot she took some pills and well, thank goodness her stomach was pumped, and she was still around to tell me about her medication change and that she feels much better. She had complained about her medicine not working for her before, but her therapist didn’t listen.

I was listening---and not enjoying my cobbler as much as before but thankful she was alive to sit across from me!

It was good to see her again and catch up about old times but her situation doesn’t seem fair. Life has been more that cruel to her.

The last email I got from her indicated that she was now having panic attacks. Someone once said that when it rains it pours and what she needed was a drought!

I don’t know if you have ever been so low that life didn’t seem worth living, but if you have, please call someone. People really do care and want to help—even therapists who have trouble listening.

And if nothing else seems good in your life try some blackberry cobbler, peach cobbler, or apple cobbler. Savor the flavors and take a deep breath. Peace.
